My name is Jay del Corro. I started this channel back in 2009 as a way to spend some time at home sharing some of the recipes I was learning at my part-time job at a local Japanese restaurant. At the time, I was just keeping myself occupied as I enjoyed watching J-vlogs as a way to escape and learn about Japanese culture. Since that time, I have uploaded more than 250 videos, gained over 40,000 subscribers, and made lots of good friends. Also, looking back today, I have been blessed to watch my kids grow up on this channel as well.
When I started documenting recipes with a single handheld video camera, I had no intention or expectation that this would change my life, but it did. Today, I own a restaurant, that I started in 2012 that I run with my wife and sons. I have the honour of teaching high school kids and immigrant women the power of hard work and dreams. We have seen our employees move on with the confidence to do great things. Thank you for everything.

@Leafuey it is. Try it. I've done this with Shin, too, and it's 🔥

yesss!!!
I've been told that for Asians it's only a meal if it includes rice. Everything else is considered a snack 😂
@@silvsilvsilv you were told right!
:)
Great watch! When I first looked at the Dinuguan you showed I was.... not attracted to it. But after you explained it, made me think about how there's are few generations old dishes here in Quebec that are also pork blood based or just straight up pork blood in sausage case. Not very popular today with younger people as these dishes were born from difficult times when poverty was very present in the working class. My partner was very interested in what you're showing while I personally do no enjoy pork blood based things. I still credit you as the reason I started to actually prepare and cook good food at home ever since that thai green apple salad you uploaded something just clicked. It's nice to see that even tho you do not upload content, your passion for food is still alive! Cheers!
@savarg Thanks for watching! It's good to be here. I love black pudding and the sausage as well. I also love the old school Quebecois food like pea soup.
Jay long time no see welcome back bro. I went to the japanese festival yesterday they got amazing Japanese food.😊 🍢🍘🍱🍤🍣🍥🍜🎏🎍
Well, if it ain't Joshua Parnell! Nice to hear from you again, brother. That sounds incredible!
Well this brings back memories

Chinese immigrants who claim to be native are not native at all, PROVEN FACT BY DNA, THE REAL TRUE NATIVE PROVEN BY FACT IS, DRUM ROLE PLZ, THE WHITE MAN IS THE ONLY TRUE NATIVE OF THIS LAND & ITS PROVEN FACT.
Holy get some help your stuck in an echo chamber of misinformation, dialectical materialism would break your brain 💀
😂
Chile verde is my favorite. Made with pork shoulder and tomatillos. Jjigae is a close second.
@@TheSteost ooh, I haven't had that in a long time. That would be a good dish to make.
Pre cooked bacon
Oh, yeah. It’s great to just keep a big ziplock bag of it.
Only one thumb up for this one? 😅
@silvsilvsilv it's good. Noodles were really chewy. Needed a touch of black vinegar. But all in all, pretty good. If you had some ground pork to add in, it would be solid.
Mashed potato+noodles isn't a combo I'd ever have thought of 😂
@silvsilvsilv me too, but it's a thing. I'll be going more in-depth with this one. Lol.
Look like yumbowl
@@MokAsystem now I'm gonna google that. Lol.

Is thst youtiao in rice roll dipped in congee???
@mariaprado391 yes! Youtiao wrapped in rice roll is called zhaliang.
Looks good
So tasty.
Every time i've ordered this so many times from so many places and its always overdone and tastes , at the most, sub par.... Just eeeew!
@terrysampson94 that's because the pasta is probably pre-cooked and kept in a 5 gallon bucket of cold water in the walk-in cooler.
Good video man! Looks delicious

I've never had bannock before, until yesterday at the calgary stampede where I had a bannock taco. I was inspired to try making it myself and this was the first video I found, and oh my gosh, I was NOT prepared for these incredible results. Crispy on the outside yet unbelievably soft and fluffy inside. I'll definitely be making this again.
My favorite raw fish dish is Oka, Samoan dish😊
@martylutje6951 if you like Samoan food, you should watch my milk bread panipopo video.
@@JaydelCorro dude I know how to make that and many other samoan dishes but I will watch 👌
@@JaydelCorro I make it using Hawaiian dinner rolls or whatever dinner rolls or pani and popo or coconut cream or milk with sugar 😋Pani = bun Popo = coconut 😉
Your version takes too long, not saying it wouldn’t be good but my aiga is hungry😜
Where have you been?
@@Tablahands right here. Lol. I also have a podcast now as well. The Aimless Cook Podcast.
Bannock, or scones as we Scottish say… since we brought it to the americas.
Traditionally Bannock is Scottish, taught to indigenous in America
Use larc when cooking,,,me telling him how too cook😂
Càn u you use lard instead of oil
Sure. It will probably be even better.
Ighhh I don’t have baking powder on me right now, but I remember my mother used to make it without!! Can I use baking soda, or just completely skip altogether?
Not too bad kokum. Just missing the whitefish
Hopefully, we get to go back up north this summer if the territories aren't on fire.
I'm not going to bother with this as it looks like a tablespoon.
Cereal
The word Bannock is Garlic. It comes from the Scottish Highlands, and yes, they are cooked on an open fire. When the Romans invaded Northern Europe they brought wheat with them. The northerners used a lot of Buckwheat for flour. Northern Europeans never had wheat until about 500 B.C.
My mom went crazy with the chili oil because we’re Asians. It was so good. But I do not know about tomorrow’s battle in the restroom. 😅
Lol. Good luck to you.
My ass never has hurt after eating spicy. Hehehe about to put a bunch o lao gan ma ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
If you knew the true history of fry bread, as a native you would never eat it again. Traditional fry bread was made with rancid lard, and flour infested with bugs and rat poop, given to them by the government.
Does it taste the same like the one you made?
